If you are watching THE STRAIN TV SERIES on FX, you might be interested in the trilogy it is based on. I decided to upload this from my collection as I know it's not always easy to find KINDLE books, which isn't a huge problem if you have the reformat program Calibre but (understandably) not everyone likes to be bothered with that! As in the series, these aren’t your usual sensationalized, overly-sexed vamps. They are ugly and monstrous; not something we see very much of in today's world of the "Twilight" books and films and the sexy "Underworld" movies. Like the series, the books are less horror and more a medley of Science Fiction, Crime/Detective, Medical Mystery and Thriller genres. In Del Toro's hands "Vampirism" is introduced into the New World and spreads like a plague--there is less immediate terror than the usual horror plot and more a fear of anarchy and infection as the bacteria/virus spreads. The lines between science and the supernatural are blurred which may make these novels unappealing to the horror-purist but if you do not expect buckets of blood and nightmares, they're a series of good novels AND a great companion to the FX Series.
